The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) seeks to reflect the performance of the price of bitcoin before expenses and liabilities. Rather than requiring investors to buy, hold, or trade bitcoin directly, the trust provides a simpler way to gain exposure through shares traded on NASDAQ. Each share represents a proportional interest in bitcoin held by the trust, less expenses. The bitcoin is primarily stored with the Bitcoin Custodian in cold storage, meaning private keys are kept offline for enhanced security.
