This actively managed ETF focuses on identifying undervalued companies where insiders, such as executives and directors, are actively buying shares or where the company itself is repurchasing stock at attractive prices. This strategy is designed to capitalize on the confidence insiders have in their company’s future growth and potential.
The investment process is driven by a proprietary quantitative model that scores companies based on key factors, including:
The fund seeks diversification across regions and sectors, ensuring a balanced portfolio. To manage risk, position sizes are typically limited to 2% of the fund’s assets. In challenging market conditions, COPY may adopt a defensive stance by temporarily reallocating assets to money market securities.
As of December 27, 2024, the fund’s portfolio included 170 holdings, reflecting a disciplined approach to diversification.
The fund has an expense ratio of 0.8%.
What differentiates the COPY ETF is its focus on the "insider’s edge" — leveraging unique insights from corporate executives and directors who have intimate knowledge of their company’s potential for growth and share price improvement. This strategy aims to identify opportunities often overlooked by traditional investment approaches.
Additionally, COPY’s actively managed structure offers a disciplined, value-oriented approach, addressing the growing demand for innovative investment solutions.
Its tax-efficient ETF format provides investors with the benefits of cost-effectiveness and flexibility, making it an attractive choice for those seeking a balance between active management and value-driven strategies.
Tweedy, Browne Company LLC is a leading practitioner of the value-oriented investment approach pioneered by legendary investor, author (The Intelligent Investor, Security Analysis), and Columbia Business School professor Benjamin Graham. Serving originally as a broker to Graham and other respected value investors, the firm’s 104-year history is grounded in undervalued securities, first as a market maker, then as an investor and investment adviser.
