Meet Kamo Jurn

I graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2010.

I worked in structured credit for a hedge fund, before moving into private wealth management as the Head of Research for the Summa Group of Oppenheimer & Co. Later I became the Chief Operating Officer for Firring Private Wealth Group of Wells Fargo.

In 2024, I joined 2024 Barron’s Top 100 Financial Advisors and Barron’s Hall of Fame Lisa Detanna Financial Advisor, where I focus on pre/post-liquidity planning working with founders and their companies to size, scale, and exit their businesses.

My father, Professor Iksu Jurn, has taught corporate finance at Saginaw Valley State University for 35 years and is the longest tenured professor at the university. Thru him, I’ve learned my purpose is rooted in education and service. I teach the people I care about what I know.

Outside of the office you can find me on a tennis court, golf course, or cooking for my loved ones. I was a professional hip-hop dancer and still enjoy taking class for fun.

Tell us about the firm

Global Wealth Solutions Group of Raymond James was founded by Managing Director Lisa Detanna. We are based in Beverly Hills, CA and are a team of 5 advisors with 20 support staff. The Global Wealth Solutions Group holds $3.392 bn in client assets. Our coast-to-coast services span across LA, Las Vegas, NY, Miami, and Oahu.

Our advisor team is multigenerational and operates as a family office with specializations in Tax Strategy & Estate Planning, Venture Capital, Investment Banking, Cross Border Transactions, Employee Benefit Plans (401k/Defined Benefit) - all bolstered by a centralized Investment Committee to create bespoke investment strategies for our clients. With the size and scale of our team, we do not hold clients to any minimums and often engage early.

When did you start incorporating ETFs into your clients' portfolios?

I began using ETFs in client portfolios in 2012.

How do you see the balance between ETFs, mutual funds, and individual stocks evolving in your allocations?

I plan to maintain the current allocation mix between ETFs, mutual funds, and stocks.

What are the main factors you consider when selecting ETFs for clients?

  • Alignment with clients' investment objectives and risk tolerance
  • Risk-adjusted performance and overall volatility
  • Tax efficiency and potential implications

What ETF strategies do you prefer for generating income?

I primarily rely on fixed income ETFs to meet income needs.

Which types of ETFs are you currently most interested in?

  • U.S. Equity ETFs
  • Commodity ETFs
  • Thematic ETFs

How do you stay informed about new and existing ETFs in the market?

  • Direct meetings with asset managers
  • Industry conferences and events
  • Professional networks and online forums

How valuable are issuer-hosted in-person meetings or webinars to your investment decision-making?

They are extremely valuable for gaining insights and staying informed.

What’s your market outlook for the remainder of 2025?

Following a dynamic 2024, we see 2025 as a year of tactical opportunity. The AI trend is progressing, though with less momentum. A new administration prioritizing efficiency and growth should benefit earnings-driven companies. Meanwhile, range-bound interest rates are creating compelling opportunities in credit markets to boost portfolio yields.

Barron’s is a registered trademark of Dow Jones & Company, L.P. All rights reserved. Barron’s Top 100 Financial Advisors 2024 ranking is based on information provided by 166 pre-qualified team responses. The period upon which the rating is based is from 1/1/2023 to 12/31/2023, and was released on 5/10/2024. The teams are ranked on a variety of factors, including their size and makeup of the team, the credentials and ongoing education of members, and the regulatory records. Financial Advisors are quantitatively rated based on the team institutional consulting AUM, Team revenue from institutional consulting, and percentage of team’s total AUM associated with institutional consulting, with weightings associated for each. The ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of an advisor’s future performance. Barron’s Hall of Fame Award, 2024. Barron’s is a registered trademark of Dow Jones & Company, L.P. All rights reserved. "Barron’s Hall of Fame" is an award honoring a group of advisors who exemplify long-term success and commitment to their clients. Each member of the Hall of Fame has appeared in 10 or more of Barron’s annual Top 100 Advisor rankings, and their long-looking commitment to excellence is a hopeful example for the industry to follow. This award was released on 05/10/2024. The Top 100 Advisor rankings are based on data provided by individual advisors and their firms and include qualitative and quantitative criteria. Data points that relate to quality of practice include professionals with a minimum of 7 years financial services experience, acceptable compliance records (no criminal U4 issues), client retention reports, charitable and philanthropic work, quality of practice, designations held, offering services beyond investments offered including estates and trusts, and more. Financial Advisors are quantitatively rated based on varying types of revenues produced and assets under management by the financial professional, with weightings associated with each. Investment performance is not an explicit component because not all advisors have audited results and because performance figures are often influenced more by clients' risk tolerance than by an advisor's investment picking abilities. The ranking may not be representative of any one client's experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of an advisor's future performance. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating. Barron's is not affiliated with Raymond James.
